A new but ongoing process - my therapist calls this “reparenting” - basically being the father I never had as a kid. Telling that “little guy” that he’s awesome, worthy of love and respect, and above all, finally, safe. It’s raw, it’s looking at old wounds in a new and powerfully supportive way, and therefore the pain is different. It’s a healing pain, as opposed to the chronic burdensome pain I’ve carried for 50 years.
