Whenever I go and buy fast food, I always pay for the person behind me in the drive-through. I flinch a little at the thought of the money leaving my account, but as soon as I think about how happy and surprised they will be, I smile. No regrets. If I can brighten up someone's day, that makes me feel happy, because I know how it would feel if someone did that for me. Following that logic, I've bought flowers for coworkers, cakes for my friends' birthdays, and just try to make happiness happen.
