Something just popped into my head while reading through these posts, and I thought was worth sharing. The reason why I try to be as kind, polite and helpful as I always can.
When I was little I remember looking out my bedroom window at the man walking down the alley going through the dumpsters. My mother must have seen this from the kitchen window too, because when I went to find her she was in the kitchen making a sandwich. I asked her what she was doing, because we had eaten lunch not long ago, and she kindly explained to me that there was a man outside taking food out of the dumpster, and she thought it would be nice to make him some lunch. I have other memories of people asking her for money for food, and she would get them something to eat if she was able to. I'm so glad I was able to experience this as a child because it has shaped me as a person and the way I raise my children.
