I recently volunteered at my local soup kitchen and it opened my eyes to how to look at the world, as well as how good it feels to help those in need. As soon as I got to the kitchen, everybody was friendly and encouraging. They had me wash dishes, prepare food, and take out the trash. All of this seemed normal until it was time to serve the food. Everyone who showed up to be served looked like they had just gotten done doing back-breaking work all day. And the crazy thing was that they all had smiles on their faces and were more than happy to have a meaningful conversation. It was truly amazing to see how these people didn't let their situations get in the way of having a positive outlook on life. I was so glad that I was able to help these people in any way that I could. They showed me that you don't have to let a bad situation ruin your day or life. It's up to you to decide how to look at life. You can be the person that shows an act of kindness that helps someone live a better life.
