One of our beloved children has been in the hospital for the past two weeks and we have been humbled and so grateful for the acts of kindness by others. Three adult mentors have given their time and care to our child, visiting in the hospital and offering support and encouragement. Two friends and a neighbor have brought wonderful meals for us. Relatives took our younger kids for a few days so they could enjoy some March Break activities. A kind woman at the dollar shop patted my hand and immediately said a prayer in her own language for my child. A man at the bulk food store offered a warm hug. Some friends have sent little messages of encouragement and love via text or Facebook. My husband's co-workers arranged for him to have a couple of days off work and also presented us with a restaurant gift certificate to help with meals. These acts of kindness, every single one, are the things that are keeping us going during this really difficult time. Thank you, thank you, thank you to those who notice other people's hurt and do thoughtful things to soothe it.
