My wingman and grandson Brayden were driving along and he asked me why when we met some cars or trucks that I would raise a few fingers off of the steering wheel and some I didn't. I explained to him that when I was a kid my dad and grandpa would always do this as though they were waiving to a neighbor and sometimes I remember to do it and sometimes I don't. His reply was that we were not anywhere near home and wanted to know if I knew these people too. I told him that when I was growing up people didn't travel as far from home on a daily basis but that now days people should still think of every person as their neighbor and be friendly. His suggestion was that I should do it to everyone and raise my fingers to say hello regardless if they wave back or not and that maybe if enough people see me doing it, it would be like saying hello to everyone. I tend to agree. Smart kid my grandson!
