A few years ago I lost a friend who really meant a lot to me. She doesn't open up to everyone and so when we first became friends I was proud and honestly felt special. I ended up throwing her under the bus (metaphorically, calm down) and she didn't forgive me, which was understandable. One day this year I opened my phone and saw that she was the first person to wish me a happy birthday. That one simple gesture of her remembering and taking the time to show she cared made me feel special all over again. She finally forgave me and now we've become friends again. It takes time for emotional wounds to heal, just as it takes time for you to learn from mistakes and grow. Sometimes an act of kindness as simple as saying happy birthday can be enough to completely rekindle a friendship and make someone feel loved. Value your friends and be kind to each other, always.
